Requirements for Admission
In order to be eligible for admission in the professional programs, students must meet the general and specific entry requirements.
General entry requirements:
- Professional Diploma is open to any student who may wish to start without any basic qualification or for those students who may wish to refresh their basic knowledge.
- Professional Bachelor is open to any student with at least a diploma qualification or with prior knowledge achieved through Recognition of Prior Professional Experiential Learning equivalent to a diploma level or professional certification/qualifications.
- Professional Master is open to any student with at least a bachelor qualification or with prior knowledge achieved through Recognition of Prior Professional Experiential Learning equivalent to a bachelor level or professional diploma, advanced diploma or certified professional designated qualifications.
- Professional Doctorate is open to any student with at least a master qualification or with prior knowledge achieved through Recognition of Prior Professional Experiential Learning equivalent to a master level or professional diploma, advanced diploma or certified professional designated qualifications or currently holding a senior executive position such as CFO, CEO, COO, or Director/Managing Director in an established corporation.
Specific entry requirements to be eligible to sit for the CMA and CIA examinations
Some of our professional master’s level programs require the completion of specific bachelor’s programs or courses in certain subject areas unless students do not wish to join the respective professional bodies.
The following are the specific requirements:
- In order to be eligible to join the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) USA* to sit for the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) examination, students must have a relevant recognized Bachelor of Accounting degree or recognised professional qualification approved by IMA to study for the Professional Master of Accounting with Management Accounting Specialization for the purpose of taking the CMA examination.
- In order to be eligible to join the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) USA* to sit for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) examination, students must have a relevant recognized Bachelor of Accounting degree or recognised professional qualification, or graduate/professional Diploma approved by IIA to study for the Professional Master of Accounting with Internal Auditing Specialization for the purpose of taking the CIA examination.
NOTE:
The Academy recommends that students should plan for their application for admission so that they may have available learning time to complete the selected course(s) in the program.
Specific English Language entry requirements
English is always a specific entry requirement to study for professional higher learning development programs. English Language Proficiency is essential for both Malaysian and International. If not explicitly stated otherwise, the following English Language requirement would apply (unless the learning programs are NOT provided in English Language).
- Minimum score of Band 5 in Malaysia University English Test (MUET); Band 5.5 in IELTS; or a score of 213 (Computer-based) or 79 (Internet-based) or 500 (paper based) in TOEFL;
- Students are exempted from the above English requirements if they possess any of the following English Language examination grades: GCE “O-Level”: Credit and above OR other equivalent qualifications/examination of English Language curriculum: 60%.
